FAQ

What are they made out of?
Usually for the small dragons:
Epoxy putty, card stock, and high grade
acrylic finishing materials.
Actually any material that performs well, is fair game.
I have used fiberglass, terra-cotta, plexi-glass,
bronze, fabric, and even paper-mache for the larger ones.

Do you use any molds to make them?
Every part is hand fashioned, assembled, and painted

Are they fragile?
No, they have a slight flexibility and are not easily
broken, they ARE subject to damage if they are abused.
(just like most other things)

How do you make the wings?
I sketch out a pattern and sometimes make a template
out of it and then ...
I hand cut each and every wing. (over and over)
I hand cut each and every wing. (over and over)

How do you make the ribs on the wings?
I mix acrylic gel medium with acrylic modeling paste
and hand paint the rib pattern on both sides of each wing.

How big are they? (pictures don't show how small they are)
The normal range is 1/2 inch to 2 inches.
(1.2mm to 50mm)

Do you make other sizes of dragons?
Yes; I can make super micro size to massive 18 inch size
the larger ones require different ($$$) materials.
conceivably even larger sizes can be made using bronze or
steel construction. ($$$$$$$$)

What is the average price of a small generic dragon?
Currently $25 US.

Where can I see sample pictures of some of them?
Right now the only pictures I know of are in my personal
collection here. If any of my collectors have a web site with
pictures of my dragons please e-mail me the link.

Where can I view completed dragons for sale or auction?
I usually don't have extra dragons at the studio.
Currently I only produce and show my dragons at the
Baltimore Science Fiction Society's annual convention,
otherwise known as BALTICON (I designed the BSFS dragon Logo)!
See info for balticon at
http://www.bsfs.org

What type of color finish do you use?
Usually high grade acrylics on the epoxy bodies, but as I
mentioned, any material that performs well is fair game.

How long does it take to fill a custom order?
Money does talk to me directly, and WHEN it does I pay
close attention. Many other factors such as size,
materials, details, logistics, and schedule requirements
also effect the final cost.

Do you sculpt anything else?
Yes I sculpt many wonderous and varied subjects
mostly fantasy, sci-fi, and abstract themes.
(Female subjects are actually my personal fav)
I also paint, design, and draw, perhaps that will be the next
